TSUNO is a new sanitary brand from Australia.
The company's founder, Roz, originally specialized in industrial design, but was so impressed by the first menstrual cup he encountered during a trip to Europe that he began researching sanitary products.
What the research has shown is that each woman's needs are different.
Women's diverse needs for sanitary products are influenced by a variety of factors, including their individual lifestyles, social circumstances, personal preferences, religion, and health.
Then, don't women need more options?
What particularly shocked Roz was that many of the sanitary products sold on the market used chemicals in the manufacturing process.
The pesticides used in the cotton of the material, the chlorine for bleaching, plus the huge amount of plastic that is discarded after just a few hours of use.
Around the same time, I learned that a charity based in my home country, Australia, was offering educational scholarships to girls in Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world.
However, many Sierra Leonean girls who cannot afford to buy sanitary products are unable to attend school for nearly a week with each monthly menstrual period.
As a result, the disparity in academic ability has widened, leading to a disparity in women's advancement in society.
TSUNO was born in order to face the challenges associated with these sanitary products.
TSUNO is made from sustainable bamboo and corn fiber.
Bamboo grows quickly and does not erode the soil or erode in the harvesting process. It is also resistant to pests, so there is no need to use chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
In addition, it absorbs moisture easily, making it ideal as a pad.
The packaging is also careful, as the film of the individual packaging is a biodegradable plastic sleeve and the outer box is made of recyclable cardboard.
Of course, we don't use chlorine or dioxin-based bleach. Right now it's not 100% biodegradable yet, but we continue to work on finding similarly renewable alternatives in the future. TSUNO's efforts to keep a positive attitude.
So how does it feel to actually use it?
First of all, it's about one size larger than the regular liners sold in Japan and covers the crotch area more tightly.
There is almost no difference in thinness, but the surface is fluffy and brushed against the Japanese liner, the texture of the smooth, right after wearing it is a little harder than usual...? It's the feeling that...?
However, over time, the natural ingredients will soak into your skin and you won't notice that it's actually stiff during use.
The bamboo and corn absorb well and are breathable and antibacterial, so it's very comfortable. You won't get your favorite underwear dirty, and the discomfort of sweat and dampness will be reduced.
Because it is made of natural materials, it is gentle on the skin and the earth!
For those who are prone to reacting to the chemicals used in common liners, this product is safe to use.
TSUNO donates 50% of its profits to charities that focus on women's empowerment.
Our current partnership is with One Girl, an organization that provides educational scholarships and sanitary napkins to marginalized girls in Sierra Leone and Uganda.
We hope you will spend a comfortable life with TSUNO, which is eco-friendly, ethical, and empowering, so that you can feel good about using it.
